1941年到1945年，香港經歷了最為黑暗的3年零8個月，平民飽受煎熬，面對着酷刑、被處決、家族財富被沒收、中國難民被遣返。
日佔時期結束，同時也是英國再次奪回香港的管治權，為香港帶來了一個值得慶祝的新光景。這枚紀念郵票正是在香港重光的背景下發行的。右邊的豎標語是「鳳鳥復興」，左邊是「漢英昇平」。
From 1941 to 1945, Hong Kong experienced her darkest 3 years and 8 months that saw civilians tortured and executed, family wealth confiscated and refugees from China repatriated.
The end of Occupation, concurrently the return of the British colonial government, brought about an occasion for celebration. It was against the backdrop of Hong Kong liberation that this commemorative stamp was issued. The vertical slogan on the right said "The phoenix revived and rejuvenated" while the left "China and Britain in peace".
